1st XV Head Coach Mr Rob Mildenhall has been named the New Zealand Herald's School Rugby Coach of the Year.
It follows another outstanding season for Westlake rugby, with the 1st XV winning the North Harbour and Blues titles before finishing third in New Zealand at the Top 4.
In recognising Mr Mildenhall's achievement, the Herald mentioned the consistency of the programme, which includes four Blues titles and four National Top 4s in the past five years.
Congratulations Mr Mildenhall.
The Herald also gave first five-eighths Luke Waller the conversion of the year title after "pinging over an absolutely astonishing banana-boomerang conversion" at the Top Four in Palmerston North.
"On a day when it was so windy that even the birds were choosing to walk everywhere, facing a howling gale on the angle, Waller somehow managed to get the ball snaking one way and then the other before going between the sticks."
Waller was also one of the most consistent kickers in schoolboy rugby this year. "In 14 North Harbour matches this season, he made 72 conversions, possibly a record," the Herald noted.
